Students took home their plants and enjoyed taking care of them over the summer. Some students had sun flowers growing others tomatoes. Now we must have a class plant in the room. Our calming corner now has a nice rug replacing the worn-out section of the floor that was previously damaged. The reading corner is another addition that has been greatly appreciated by students. They love spending time in this space, reading books, and discussing what they are reading with peers.\r\n\r\nSeeing these two rugs immediately caught the attention of the students. Some students sat down with books as soon as they saw this addition, whereas others said how comfortable and peaceful the classroom was. The calming corner rug particularly helped students feel the classroom was an encouraging place instead of being a damaged floor.\r\n\r\nThe reading corner is used almost daily by students when doing independent and partner reading, as well as having small group discussions. We will continue creating an environment based on comfort, innovation, and overall well-being with the help of these two additions.
