It gives me joy to witness the power of a few simple items made readily available to students in conveying to them \"comfort and confidence\" in their high school life. \r\n\r\nPart of my joy is to share their experience with you. \r\n\r\nWhile all the students who benefited from your investment expressed gratitude, two (2) in particular stand out. I'll call them Comfort and Confidence 1 and 2 (C&C1 and C&C2). \r\n\r\nC&C1 had a period accident and was sent to me because my colleagues know about the project you graciously funded. \r\n\r\nAfter receiving the new pants of her choice C&C1 said that she was \"anxious and worried\" but after she was \"calm.\" She literally said that she felt \"comfortable and confident\" and that she felt good about remaining in school for the rest of the day. Major win!!!\r\n\r\nThen there is C&C2. This student has had attendance challenges.\r\n\r\nC&C2 has shown that something that helps him come to school more regularly (which he has been) and stay the entire day is his rising comfort level of being in the school building. As you know, middle school tends to be a challenging time for most preteens and teenage students. Imagine dealing with those same pressures as a young woman in an all-girl Title I middle school. When the middle schoolers saw the additions to the store for the first time, they were extremely excited about the refreshed inventory. Our desire is to continue to expand the store to provide more opportunities for all students to be rewarded for efforts. Adding additional merchandise within the store allows for all students to make at least one purchase when shopping. It also builds our students' financial literacy skills because they explore concepts such as budgeting, debit, and credit.
