New laws in Oklahoma require that students be off their devices from bell to bell. I worried about how I would honor this law in the library space. It would be a challenge to continually monitor students because we have a large space. I also did not want to keep phones at the circulation desk unless it could be done securely.\r\n\r\nFunding the purchase of these cell phone lockers gives me and my students peace of mind. It helps encourage students to refocus on school and friends rather than scroll on their phones. It also helps me to be confident that students phones are safe while they are being kept at the circulation desk. \r\n\r\nStudents have felt at ease when I ask them to keep their phones in the lockers. It has worked flawlessly, and I appreciate your support in this.\r\n\r\nDue to some replacement cost changes with Amazon, I had some money left over and was able to purchase some snacks to have on hand for students. The library is a safe space for all our students, and being able to provide a snack to students that need it helps encourage them to visit the library.
