The binders, notebooks, pencils, pens, markers, folders, dividers, and other classroom supplies are being used every single day. Students are able to keep their science notes, vocabulary, assignments, and activities organized in one place, and no student has to worry about being unprepared simply because they do not have the supplies they need.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching students set up their science materials at the beginning of the year. There is something special about starting with a fresh notebook, an organized binder, and the supplies you need to be successful! My students were excited and appreciative, and these resources helped us begin the year with a sense of pride and readiness. More importantly, having these materials readily available means we can spend our class time focused on learning, investigating, asking questions, and doing science rather than worrying about missing supplies.\r\n\r\nWe are now diving deeper into our chemistry unit, where students are learning about atoms, elements, the periodic table, and the properties of matter. Their notebooks and binders are quickly filling with notes, diagrams, vocabulary, practice activities, and lab observations that they will continue to use throughout the year. Something as simple as having their own water bottle helps students spend less time leaving class for water and more time focused, comfortable, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThese water bottles are being used every single day! Students can fill them before class or throughout the day and keep water nearby while they are learning, participating in science activities, working collaboratively, and completing labs. I especially love that this project provided something practical that students can use not just in my science classroom, but throughout their entire school day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these bottles will travel with our students from classroom to classroom, to PE, after-school activities, and wherever their busy days take them. Before we could begin planting, however, we had quite a challenge ahead of us. Our garden beds were completely overgrown with weeds—some of them were as tall as my students! It took us several days of pulling weeds, clearing the beds, and bagging all of the yard waste, but my students worked incredibly hard. The pictures we are sharing show just how overgrown the beds were when we started and some of the hard work my students put into getting them ready.\r\n\r\nThis first step has already taught my students so much about teamwork, perseverance, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. They quickly discovered that creating and maintaining a garden takes effort! It was wonderful to watch them work together, encourage one another, and take pride in seeing the garden beds transform. What began as an overwhelming patch of weeds is now becoming a space where students will be able to learn, grow, and experience science firsthand.\r\n\r\nNow comes the part we have all been waiting for—we can't wait to start planting! Students will use our new resources to plant seeds and care for our garden while making real-world connections to plant growth, ecosystems, soil, weather, natural resources, sustainability, and the interactions between living and nonliving parts of the environment. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to get their hands dirty, work hard, and experience science beyond the classroom walls. These resources have given us a fun, hands-on way to build communication, cooperation, problem-solving skills, and trust while strengthening our classroom community.\r\n\r\nOne activity that has quickly become a student favorite is the \"Half-Pipe Golf Ball\" challenge! Students had to work together using the half-pipe pieces to move a golf ball from one point to another without letting it fall. There was lots of excitement, laughter, and encouragement as they figured out how to communicate, coordinate their movements, and adjust their strategy. They quickly learned that completing the challenge successfully required everyone on the team to do their part. Watching them celebrate together when that golf ball finally made it to its destination was priceless!\r\n\r\nThese activities are teaching my students that success isn't always about being the fastest or having the \"right\" answer. It's about listening to one another, sharing ideas, encouraging teammates, persevering when something doesn't work the first time, and working toward a common goal.\r\n\r\nAs we move into more collaborative science labs, investigations, and group projects, we will continue using these resources to reinforce teamwork, communication, perseverance, and respectful problem-solving.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students opportunities to learn important skills that cannot always be taught from a textbook. The antibacterial soap and tissues have helped us maintain a cleaner, healthier environment, especially during cold and allergy season. The bandaids have come in handy more times than I can count for small cuts and scrapes, and students know they can come to our classroom for help when they need it.\r\n\r\nThe snacks, including the Goldfish crackers and fruit chews, have made an especially meaningful impact. Many middle school students struggle to focus when they are hungry, and having small snacks available has helped students stay engaged and ready to learn throughout the day. I've quietly seen students who came into class tired or distracted become more focused and willing to participate after having a small snack.\r\n\r\nThe Sharpies and construction paper have also brought creativity and excitement into our classroom activities. Recently, students used the materials to create colorful science review posters and anchor charts during our End-of-Grade review rotations. One of my favorite moments was watching groups of students work together enthusiastically, discussing science concepts while designing their hydrosphere anchor chart and proudly sharing it with classmates.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials arrive, they were genuinely excited and grateful. Several students immediately noticed that the classroom felt more welcoming and supportive. It meant a lot to them to know that people they have never met cared enough to invest in their success and well-being.\r\n\r\nAs we continue preparing for our science End-of-Grade test, students will keep using these resources during collaborative review activities, station rotations, creative projects, and daily classroom routines.
