Many of my students come to school after long mornings, part-time jobs, or challenging situations outside of school, so having snacks available in the classroom has made a bigger difference than you might imagine. When the snacks first arrived, students were genuinely excited and grateful. Several of them immediately said things like, \"Wait, these are for us?\" and \"Thank you for getting these for our class.\" It created an instant sense of care and community in the room.\r\n\r\nWe use the snacks during our longer class blocks, especially during group work and collaborative math activities. For example, during a recent algebra group challenge where students worked together to solve equations and create a poster explaining their thinking, the snacks helped students stay focused and engaged. Instead of asking to leave the room or struggling to concentrate because they were hungry, students were able to grab a quick snack and keep working with their team.\r\n\r\nYour support helps create a classroom environment where students feel welcomed, supported, and ready to learn. As we continue working through our current algebra unit, students will keep collaborating on group problem-solving activities and projects that build both their math skills and confidence. Thank you again for helping make our classroom a place where students can focus, participate, and succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1770170195510,"projectUrl":"project/nourishing-minds-with-simple-snacks/9986104/","projectTitle":"Nourishing Minds With Simple Snacks","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hoang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10042079_orig.jpg?crop=1107,1107,x321,y377&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747942580752","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10042079"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4914","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":183,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":90,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"11 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":4914,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Broadway High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Broadway High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-jose-unified-school-district/broadway-high-school/4914"}
