On behalf of BCMS 7th graders, I wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of frogs for dissection. Your support has had a profound impact on our students, enriching their learning experience in ways that go beyond traditional teaching methods.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on experience of dissecting frogs has allowed our students to explore biological systems, deepen their understanding of anatomy, and foster a connection to the subject matter in a way that textbooks alone cannot achieve. It has been particularly valuable for sparking curiosity and encouraging critical thinking, as students gain a real-world perspective of the scientific concepts they study.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only contributed to their academic growth but has also instilled a sense of responsibility and respect for the animals involved in this educational process. It is clear that your generosity is helping shape the next generation of scientists, doctors, and environmentalists, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your thoughtful and impactful contribution. As we patiently waited for our delivery, my partner teacher and I planned out the labs we would do when the scales arrived. Just when we were getting nervous about things arriving in time, we got the delivery! We did a whole class lab about if condensation on cups changes the mass of the system or not. Last year when we taught this lab, we had to say that there was no change because we got a wide variety of results. This time, with proper student use, we were able to make more accurate conclusions. We also used the scales for a teacher led demo to prove that condensation does not go through the solid wall of a cup. \r\nThe students were rather impressed with the scales since they were new and shiny and easy to read. They asked several times if we were doing another lab with the scales, but we had come to the end of the unit we needed them for the most. The scales will still be used by students and teachers for further learning as the school year goes on. \r\nWe couldn't have made this happen without your help, so thank you again!","fullyFundedDate":1729112085930,"projectUrl":"project/precise-lab-scales-for-accurate-learning/8852240/","projectTitle":"Precise Lab Scales for Accurate Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dixon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7554825_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1646776064849","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7554825"},{"teacherId":5800707,"projectId":8851628,"letterContent":"Students used the lab scales for a variety of hands on activities that involved measuring mass of different cup systems in our Thermal energy unit. The scales were used to measure cups of water to determine mass lost and gained in a cup system. Students measured the mass before and the mass after to determine if any of the water was lost to the air in our cup system. The precision of the scales helped students to understand the importance of accurate measurements in scientific work and work on skills like reading digital displays, using the tare function and understanding units of measurements. Students were able to analyze data from their measurements and compare their results with other classes that helped prompt critical thinking and understanding of concepts like mass and density.\r\nStudents were very excited to have scales that were able to work and were accurate when measuring. When students used the scales they were impressed by the precision of the new digital scales compared to the older ones that were not functioning properly or broken. They were curious of all the different functions and uses of the scales. The next steps for students would be to continue to work on practicing using the scales and we will incorporate the scales into lab experiments.","fullyFundedDate":1729112085892,"projectUrl":"project/precision-in-learning-lab-scales/8851628/","projectTitle":"Precision in Learning: Lab Scales","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ousley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5800707_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1535565433187","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5800707"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42293","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":619,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":42293,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Boyd County Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Boyd County Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/boyd-county-public-school-district/boyd-co-middle-school/42293"}
