So often our schools lack resources and the funding necessary to provide our students with additional resources. We often have to make what we have work, so this generous donation really changes the ways I can engage students in their reading and learning overall. \r\n\r\nThe Children of the Great Depression will pair with our class novel, Esperanza Rising, which if you are unfamiliar is a story about a young girl who immigrates to the United States from Mexico during the Great Depression. Having real life examples to connect with the story will further students understanding of the content. \r\n\r\nAlso, I teach at a school that serves primarily Indigenous students. The text Notable Native People will help my students to connect to others like them across the country and to see the impact other Indigenous peoples are making.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity.
