Your contribution has made a huge difference in our Grade 6 science classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived—popsicle sticks, rubber bands, glue guns, bottle caps, and candy pumpkins—my students were thrilled. Their eyes lit up as they realized they'd be building real catapults as part of our STEAM-integrated astronomy project. One student exclaimed, \"We get to build like NASA engineers!\"\r\n\r\nWe've been using these resources to explore force, motion, and trajectory while connecting it to space science. Students designed and tested mini catapults to launch candy pumpkins, collecting data on distance and angle. They then analyzed how gravity and force would affect a launch on different planets. It was hands-on, inquiry-based learning at its best!\r\n\r\nOne unforgettable moment was when a group of students adjusted their catapult design to mimic the lower gravity on Mars. They were so proud when their pumpkin flew farther than expected—and they immediately started asking questions about how astronauts train for different planetary conditions.\r\n\r\nNext Steps:\r\nStudents are now working on digital presentations to share their findings, including graphs, photos, and reflections. We'll be hosting a mini \"Pumpkin Launch Showcase\" where they present their catapult designs and space science connections to peers and families.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom is buzzing with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. We've been putting the new bulletin board paper, borders, magnets, Velcro, clipboard, and bulletin board letters to great use in a variety of creative ways. One project the students particularly enjoyed was creating a rotating \"Student Spotlight\" board. Each week, a different student gets to display their writing, artwork, or a fun personal fact. They love using the magnets and Velcro to arrange their work, and the bright new background and decorative borders really make it stand out.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were absolutely thrilled. Their eyes lit up when they saw the colorful bulletin paper and fun borders already up on the wall. Many of them were especially excited about the Velcro and magnets, which sparked an instant wave of curiosity and creativity. It wasn't long before they were suggesting ways we could use the new materials in upcoming lessons and projects.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next big step is to use these materials to support a collaborative science vocabulary wall. Students will be creating vocabulary cards with definitions and illustrations, which they'll attach to the board using the Velcro. This setup will allow us to rearrange the terms as we move through different units, making the learning process more interactive and visual. The clipboard is also being used for our classroom job chart, helping students stay organized and take responsibility for their roles.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your support. Students eagerly gathered around as I unboxed Jolly Rancher Lollipops, Takis Blue Heat, Airheads Bars, Mars Candy Variety Pack, Charms Mini Pops, and Razzles Gum. Their eyes lit up with curiosity and anticipation, and the room buzzed with energy as they realized the fun and learning that lay ahead.\r\n\r\nThese treats have been instrumental in increasing focus and concentration during my lessons. Students can maintain their energy levels and stay engaged throughout the class by providing a small, enjoyable snack.
