These materials—such as visual aids, bilingual glossaries, hands-on experiments, and simplified texts—help bridge language barriers, allowing ELL students to actively participate in learning alongside their peers. One of the biggest benefits has been improved comprehension. Visuals, diagrams, and real-world examples help reinforce complex concepts, ensuring that students can grasp scientific ideas even if they are still developing their English proficiency. Additionally, bilingual resources and scaffolded reading materials provide crucial language support, enabling ELLs to build both scientific literacy and English skills simultaneously. Collaboration has also increased, as these materials encourage peer interactions through structured group discussions, inquiry-based experiments, and cooperative learning activities. By engaging in hands-on science tasks, ELL students can demonstrate understanding through action rather than just language, boosting their confidence and participation.","fullyFundedDate":1738736888909,"projectUrl":"project/science-educational-materials-to-benefit/9068804/","projectTitle":"Science Educational Materials to Benefit English Language Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Trainor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1678223_orig.jpg?crop=865,865,x218,y85&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737125003101","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1678223"},{"teacherId":1678223,"projectId":9068703,"letterContent":"A library-style flexible seating space has had a significant impact on my science classroom by enhancing student engagement, collaboration, and overall learning experiences. It also supports inquiry-based learning, as students can move freely between research areas, lab stations, and discussion spaces, mirroring real-world scientific environments.\r\n\r\nBy accommodating diverse learning styles, the space enables students who thrive in quiet settings to read and reflect, while others who benefit from hands-on work or peer discussions can engage more actively. The magnitude of your donations will be felt for generations to come. Your kindness, generosity and selfless spirit not only touched me, but most importantly, my students and their children. \r\n\r\nWhen I first engaged my students to provide me with their dreams for a space which enabled them and their children to learn, feel welcomed and accepted without the stigma attached to teen parenthood, they did not believe their dreams would be realized. Still, I encouraged them to share those dreams and to believe that our project would be fully funded by individuals who cared about their learning needs. Thus, our project entitled \"Help Support Parenting Students \"was born, submitted and ultimately fully funded. \r\n\r\nTherefore, when I say the words\"Thank you,\" they could not fully articulate what your generosity and selfless spirit of giving demonstrated to my students. They are now able to experience and know that there are indeed individuals who see, hear and care about their outcomes and the outcomes of their children in a non-judgmental manner .\r\n\r\nAs evidenced in the attached pictures, through your donations, my students and I have been able to create a space for learning and growing academically, emotionally and socially. Upon entering this space, students are immediately met with a sign which reads \"This is a safe space. All are welcomed here.\" Furthermore, at times, my parenting students come into our space feeling overwhelmed and inadequate to face the challenges they encounter on a daily basis. Yet, they are able to go to an an area which includes posters and pillows which specifically gives encouragement and positive affirmations. Through your donations the students now have comfortable, flexible seating options, warm lighting and carpeting. They are able to read books such as \"What to expect when you're expecting.\" They are able to sit quietly, feel valued, reflect, engage in mindfulness exercises , rejoin our groups and successfully contribute to class lessons and discussions.-All made possible by your donations. \r\n\r\nOn many occasions students share that they have no diapers or wet wipes for their children. Your donations fill these needs. Still, there are times when my students come into our space and have not had anything to eat. Your donations of food items such as protein bars, chick pea snacks or Oreo cookies have allowed them to have something to eat and thereby focus on the tools and strategies they need to successfully engage in academic or parenting lessons parent. \r\n\r\nOn other occasions, partners from our surrounding communities come in and hold workshops with our parenting students and provide them with valuable life-long tools on not only the importance of reading to their children, but how to do so effectively. The childrens books, shape sorters, silicone stacking toys and other engaging items that are designed to support the childrens' development are used during these workshops. Additionally, the markers, flip chart and speaker system you have provided are all being utilized to support this endeavor and to ensure all are being heard.\r\n\r\nI can list numerous other ways in which your kindness and generosity have positively impacted my students and their children. However, none of them would ever be possible without your selfless support.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, I offer my sincerest gratitude to your.","fullyFundedDate":1735657825661,"projectUrl":"project/help-support-parenting-students/8855351/","projectTitle":"Help Support Parenting Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gentle-Sutherland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5807950_orig.jpg?crop=1783,1783,x532,y301&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729008814577","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5807950"},{"teacherId":9890503,"projectId":9044220,"letterContent":"Thank you for all your donations. \r\nThe classroom became really beautiful and informative due to your help.\r\nWe (students and teachers) are using and admiring those materials all over the classroom and enjoying a lot.\r\n\r\nStudents and teachers loved and usually say that this is one of the most beautiful and cool classes they ever seen and this is thanks to you all.\r\n\r\nWe have already done some lab experiments (funded by you too) and had a lot of fun here.
