Having the NumberBlocks stuffies and the Numberblocks Blockzee Balance Activity Set gave the students hands on fun and representation to learn their numbers and to compare numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to terminology. \r\nWe will be using the adding and subtraction puzzles in the near future along with the playing cards. We will continue to build on what they have learned as we will be moving on to teen numbers and comparing those bigger numbers. We use the balls daily on the playground and see so many safer interactions with soft, squishy balls. These balls are kept organized and safe with our new ball bin. Our pretend play kitchen looked like a ghost town prior to the addition of new pretend food items. The language and collaboration, even in our lowest functioning students, is remarkable. Our students were so excited to see boxes arriving into our room and it was like Christmas, the excitement was thrilling. \r\n Another resource we received through the generous donation was rolling drawers used by teachers to organize materials for students, especially special education students, during small group centers. These carts help store weekly projects and data collection tools to work on individualized plans. Our classroom serves students from income deficit homes, so I know that anytime new items are introduced into their worlds it is incredibly meaningful. It is so great since it is not loud and it occislates so that the whole classroom gets some fresh cool air. The students have loved our new pencil sharpener. The students are able to use it since it takes the pencil and then pushes it up when it is done. \r\nThe jumbo magnetic writing strips have become a part of our daily phonics lesson. I get to model how to write the letters of the sounds we are learning. Our open/closed sign is a great visual for the students to know when the bathroom is available and when it is not. Our new chair has been put to use as we have a few paraprofessionals who come in and work with our students throughout the day. The stickers have been used to reward great work and effort.
