Activities like playing bongos or a piano using everyday objects (like bananas and Play-doh) turn learning into something playful and memorable. Instead of just hearing about circuits, students experienced them, which kept them motivated and eager to participate. This kind of learning often reaches students who may not connect as easily with traditional instruction.\r\n\r\nSecond, my students have developed a stronger understanding of scientific concepts. By exploring conductors and insulators and building both parallel and series circuits, they have learning through trial and error. They can physically see what works and what doesn't, which helps solidify abstract ideas. These experiences make concepts in electricity much more concrete and easier to understand.\r\n\r\nFinally, Makey Makey has helped build important 21st-century skills. Students are problem-solving when connections don't work, collaborating with classmates to test ideas, and thinking creatively when designing their own instruments or setups. It also introduced early computational thinking and basic engineering skills in a fun, approachable way.\r\n\r\nOverall, this experience has made my students more confident, curious, and excited about STEAM learning—while giving them a deeper, hands-on understanding of how circuits and electricity work.","fullyFundedDate":1768847980039,"projectUrl":"project/lets-makey-makey-electrical-fun-in-stea/9771127/","projectTitle":"Let's Makey Makey Electrical Fun In STEAM Class!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5801128_orig.jpg?crop=1058,1058,x1058,y735&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759153257024","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5801128"},{"teacherId":7992365,"projectId":10049712,"letterContent":"My students are loving the new flexible seating options, and it has genuinely transformed the feel of our classroom. The bean bags, floor pillows, and clipboards have allowed students to spread out, get comfortable, and take ownership of their learning environment. During independent reading and science journaling, I see my students choosing spots around the room that help them focus best, some in a quiet corner, while others use clipboards to work collaboratively on the floor. The magnetic tiles have been a class favorite during indoor recess, when outdoor play is limited. One meaningful moment came during a science lesson, when students were planning a design challenge. Without being prompted, they naturally formed small groups on the floor using our new workspaces. The snacks have also helped students stay focused in the afternoon, especially with an early lunch this school year. \r\n When my students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate! They instantly recognized this as a special donation and felt extra enthusiasm for learning. More importantly, they treated flexible seating, clipboards, and magnetic tiles with care and respect. It's been rewarding to see these materials boost their engagement. \r\n Looking ahead, I would love to expand this flexible learning environment by creating outdoor seating using the rooftop patio attached to our classroom. My next project will focus on adding weather-friendly seating, so my students can take their learning outside.","fullyFundedDate":1769531503613,"projectUrl":"project/a-welcoming-and-comfortable-classroom-wh/10049712/","projectTitle":"A Welcoming and Comfortable Classroom Where Every Fourth Grader Belongs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bennis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7992365"},{"teacherId":10413222,"projectId":10043383,"letterContent":"My students love the items from our donors choose campaign!
