I live and work in a very small, rural area in New York State. We graduate around 50 students each year and over half of our families are living below the poverty line. DonorsChoose was introduced to me by a former coworker and I loved the idea of creating a \"Wishlist\" and then asking for donations. When I finished my list, I could not bring myself to share it through my social media platforms. I am friends with so many parents that are struggling financially and I knew they would give to my project when they didn't have the extra funds to share. I let my DonorsChoose project sit for a little while so I could contemplate the best way to ask for help funding it. To my pleasant surprise, I received an email a few months ago informing me that my project had been fully funded by anonymous donors. I can't tell you what that meant to me. It still brings tears to my eyes to write about it. I am a woman of faith and I believe that God answers our prayers in unexpected ways, sometimes. You were an answer to that prayer!\r\n\r\nMy students have been so grateful for additional snacks, fidgets and I've been utilizing several of the books with groups that I facilitate. In my area, schools are the hub for all family resources. We do our best to love, feed and teach these children, but they often need additional snacks to get them through the day. We have a very high rate of children living with non-biological parents or with grandparents. Many mothers and fathers are incarcerated, struggling with addiction or deceased. This is an epidemic that we're seeing all over the country, but our small towns are struggling significantly. \r\n\r\nAgain, I thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
