They are learning to appreciate what they see and hear in their own work, comparing with others to observe how their note and rhythm choices play a part in the enjoyment of their efforts.\r\n First, the anxious excitement of opening the boards from their wrappings was as heart-warming as receiving a dear friend's Christmas present. The students have taken great care to insure that these boards will be around for many years to come. \r\n Secondly, because of your generosity, from the first cautious written notes and learning that their choices are always a part of the process, these students are seeing their work, hearing the efforts, and accepting the role as growing young composers. With your heIp, I have created an environment where kids can create without being judged harshly, appreciate the results of their choices, understanding that it's okay not to 'get it right' the first time and that adjustments are all a part of the process.
