Thanks to your thoughtful donations, we were able to refresh and reorganize our library—making it more welcoming, more functional, and more exciting for our students than ever before.\r\n\r\nBefore these updates, many students found browsing difficult. Shelves were crowded, books were harder to locate, and some of our youngest readers felt overwhelmed by too many spines and too few covers to guide them. Your contributions allowed us to rethink how students connect with books.\r\n\r\nOne of the most transformative additions has been the browsing bins. These bins have truly changed the way our readers discover books. Instead of scanning long rows of shelving, students can now flip through covers at their own pace—just like a treasure hunt. They are drawn in by bright, inviting covers, and they're selecting more books on their own, with confidence and joy. Teachers and parents have noticed, too; children who once struggled to find something to read now leave with multiple books, excited to dive in.\r\n\r\nBeyond the bins, the overall genrifying of our library space has made it feel fresh, accessible, and inspiring. It's easier for staff to highlight new arrivals, feature seasonal themes, and create displays that spark curiosity. It's also simpler to keep everything organized, meaning less time searching and more time reading.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these improvements have changed how our students feel about reading. We see more smiles, more sharing, and more reading every single day—and that is because of you. Your kindness didn't just provide materials; it created opportunities, memories, and the joy of discovery for an entire school community.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our staff, students, and families, thank you for believing in our library and in the power of books to change lives. Your generosity continues to ripple through every joyful moment a child finds the perfect book.","fullyFundedDate":1751822209930,"projectUrl":"project/bin-by-bin-building-a-better-library/9414766/","projectTitle":"Bin by Bin: Building a Better Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tippet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4874609_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749931660786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/l-tippet"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_102851","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":719,"numTeachers":63,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.5,"schoolId":102851,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Blackshear Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Blackshear Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/klein-independent-school-district/blackshear-elementary-school/102851"}
