My students have had the opportunity to build, and create their own masterpieces. We've been using the STEM bins during our learning center, and during free time. Their favorite part is building something, and showing everyone in the class, they always ask me to take pictures and sent it to their parents for them to see too!\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were so excited! The first thing they wanted to do was start exploring all the ways they could use them! It was so fun to watch them be curious. They've been able to work with their friends, take turns, and have so much fun! As a first year teacher, this has made the first month of school be the best! My students are learning so much, just by building!\r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to continue using the new materials all year. I plan on using them to continue to challenge my students, while also having fun. Our next step is to have students plan, create their design and make changes if needed. These materials are giving my students opportunities to learn in a hands-on way while also building their independence, confidence, communication, and fine motor skills. In our special education classroom, art is a great way for my students to express themselves and feel successful. We have been using the supplies for coloring, crafts, and different hands-on projects. One of my favorite moments was watching my students create their own masterpieces and seeing how proud they were to show me what they made. The adapted supplies have also made it easier for students who struggle with fine motor skills to participate more independently.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were so excited! Many of my students love art, so having new crayons, markers, colored pencils, and other supplies made them eager to get started. It was especially exciting to see students who sometimes have difficulty using traditional school supplies be able to use the adapted materials more comfortably. Seeing their excitement reminded me how important it is to give every student the tools they need to participate and be successful.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using the art supplies during our classroom lessons and seasonal projects. We will be creating artwork connected to the books and topics we are learning about in class, which will allow my students to practice fine motor skills while also showing what they have learned. I am excited to continue giving my students opportunities to be creative, make choices, and complete projects more independently. The adaptive school supplies you helped fund have made a huge impact in my classroom. The loop scissors, fat pencils, and fat crayons have been amazing for my students with poor fine motor skills. I have been able to spread your impact to other classrooms by sharing some of these supplies with other teachers/ students.\r\n\r\nThe markers and colored pencils (mainly the markers) have proven to be a good motivator for my current students. I have even passed out snacks to other special education teachers for them to use with their students. My students who struggle with fine motor skills are able to use the iPads to access curriculum and participate in online activities easier. Some of my students are unable to use computers due to their fine motor skills so myself and those students are grateful for the iPads. Other special education teachers who have similar students who struggle with fine motor skills, borrow the iPads for testing as well.\r\n\r\nI am also working on getting an app put on the iPads to help students who struggle vocally to communicate. They also use it frequently in the dramatic play area! \r\nThe three poke and read books have also been a big hit with all of them. They will spend several minutes exploring the book which is really helping to increase their attention span. They are able wiggle and move, calm themselves and increase their focus with daily tasks. These stools are used every day during one on one instruction and small group assignments. Students are free to move as they sit to play with playdough, read books, work on assignments and listen to instruction.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a student who typically struggles to stay seated choose a wobble stool and remain engaged during an entire lesson for the first time.\r\n\r\nThe ability to move while learning has helped many of my students improve their focus, reduce frustration, and stay on task longer.
