I have completed our indoor nature learning space, \"Nature Nook.\" Students have been using this space since September 4th. \r\n\r\nThe students' excitement over this space has been more than I could have expected. I've had multiple students from both the primary and intermediate grades see me in the hallway to tell me how much they love the Nature Nook. Many staff have also said that their students tell them the Nature Nook is their favorite space. Our fourth grade classes have gone once a week since it opened to use this space for a mindfulness calming time after lunch recess to help them reset for the afternoon. This past week, there were at least two classes signed up for the space each day, so the traffic is picking up. The students love to sit on the log cushions and stools saying they are more comfortable than the chairs. The magnifying glasses have been great for exploration of sea shells, insects, pinecones, and more. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, the fourth grade students have been using the magnifying glasses and binoculars for their outside exploration. They have enjoyed the ability to bring details of small objects closer in and bring things far away closer to them, so they can draw the details in their nature journals.
