We're using the new books and cozy seating to encourage independent reading. Just last week, during a partner read, I saw students eagerly discussing a story they had just read together, sharing their favorite parts and asking thoughtful questions. It was a wonderful moment that showed how the new space inspires a love for reading.\r\nWhen the students first saw the reading corner, their eyes lit up with excitement. Many rushed over to explore the colorful books and comfortable seating, already picking out stories they wanted to dive into. It's clear that having a special place dedicated to reading makes them feel more motivated and valued as readers.\r\nNext, we're planning a project where students will choose a book from the corner, read it, and then create their own book reviews and illustrations to share with the class. This will help deepen their comprehension and build confidence in expressing their ideas. Your support has truly made a difference in creating a welcoming environment that fosters a lifelong love of reading. The wobble stools you helped us buy are used daily by my students and help them to sit for longer periods of time and focus on instruction. The stools are also easily moved around the room throughout the day so students can sit together to work on social skills activities, collaborative play, art projects, puzzles, and games. The stools have become a well-loved and essential component of the classroom environment. \r\n\r\nYour donations also helped to provide students with a variety of hands-on instructional materials, visual aids, and sensory supports. Being a first-year classroom, we had few materials and were desperately in need of things the students would be able to joyfully explore as they were acclimating to the school schedule and classroom environment. Every item we received directly benefited the students' communication and learning goals and provided them with positive classroom experiences. \r\n\r\nSince then, I've worked hard to purchase additional classroom materials. I've also been blessed with donations from classroom staff, folks in my neighborhood, and community organizations like the Buy Nothing Project. This year, we are starting off in a much better place and that is because of the support we received from donors like you. My students love to come to school and are always excited to explore the materials in the classroom. Thank you for helping to give my students the equitable educational experiences they deserve. We sincerely thank you for making our classroom a priority!","fullyFundedDate":1726172345082,"projectUrl":"project/new-autistic-support-classroom-title-1/8727689/","projectTitle":"New Autistic Support Classroom, Title 1 School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9610208_orig.jpg?crop=496,496,x555,y103&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757770193756","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9610208"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90705","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":252,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":93,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"8.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":58.3,"schoolId":90705,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Benjamin B Comegys Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Benjamin B Comegys Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/philadelphia-city-school-district/benjamin-b-comegys-elementary-school/90705"}
