Each student was able to pick a brand new brightly colored folder to house their nightly reading practice. We put into the folder a page protector to hold the most current reading assignment so parents could easily locate it and students are in a routine now of taking out the previous text from their sleeve to put in the new reading. These plastic folders are much sturdier than the paper ones for transporting to and from school each day. \r\n In addition to our new folders, we were delivered new unscratched student dry erase boards that came with markers and erasers. We use these daily to practice our spelling patterns, syllabication, and dictation sentences. The lines on the new boards make it easier for the K-3 students to correctly form their letters. On the opposite side of the board it is blank so we can also do drawing and writing responses to our books. \r\n Each time we learn a new phonics skill we create word lists with that pattern and also locate that pattern in our decodable texts. Students use the new highlighters to locate and highlight those patterns in their books. We also use them to find newly learned sight words in poems and other texts. These sight words are also practiced with the new red crayons numerous times to help the students memorize them. \r\nAll of these tools have helped support my reading intervention students grow as readers.","fullyFundedDate":1739376106666,"projectUrl":"project/take-home-folders-and-reading-group-supp/9048180/","projectTitle":"Take Home Folders and Reading Group Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hoffhines","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp541181_orig.jpg?crop=1955,1955,x0,y97&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693109556698","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/541181"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42052","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":293,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.3,"schoolId":42052,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Belmar School of Integrated Arts on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Belmar School of Integrated Arts","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/jefferson-county-school-district-r-1/belmar-elementary-school/42052"}
