Students are also able to earn access to our Snack Cart by meeting their daily expectations, which has quickly become something they look forward to.\r\n\r\nOur Fun Friday materials give our students an even bigger goal to work toward throughout the week. Students who meet their goals have the opportunity to participate in special activities such as Popcorn & a Show, a Glow Dance Party, Popsicles & Playground, crafts, and other themed celebrations. The Florida BEST list is a list of books that the Florida Department of Education recommends for students to meet the Florida benchmarks. The list includes a mix of classics and newer titles, but all are very high interest and engaging. \r\n\r\nThird through Fifth grade have all used the novels a little differently depending upon the class composition. Our third grade is currently reading Pippi Longstocking aloud to each of their classes and did a close read on chapter 2 analyzing character perspective. The third graders find Pippi's antics amusing! Fourth grade has used the novels in small group literature circles, and by the end of the year each group in fourth will have read all the novels purchased for their grade level. They are really enjoying the novel, \"Tales from the Odyssey,\" by Mary Pope Osborne. For most of them this is their first exposure to Greek Mythology. Fifth grade has had some read the novels aloud to the class and some do literature circles.
