A student helped me deliver care packages to each classroom with cute gel ice packs and band aids in the rainbow baskets your donated. It honestly felt like a loving way to show them that no child and no adult is alone. I love that game! Let's play it!\" He then proceeded to rip open the packaging and set up the game- a small miracle in and of itself, as I've never known him to participate in an activity set up. I sat in my seat, stunned! \r\n\r\nThen, completely independently and unprompted, he actually shared some of the money he earned in the game with his peer! This is a highly competitive student who has even gotten into physical fights with students over winning and losing and being first. I couldn't wait to tell his teacher what happened and she was so happy and later told me she had never seen that from him. \r\n\r\nThis beautiful and astonishing example is all because of you! If we had never received your generous support, we would never have played the game, and never been privy to see this giving and caring side of the student. He may never have had the chance to show it to others. \r\n\r\nIt is hard to take pictures that demonstrate what really happens with these great materials but hopefully you can see a little bit. Two of the students were so proud and happy to go to the office with me to pick the boxes up and insisted on helping carry them! Even just the ability to help carry the boxes provided them with a sense of duty and responsibility that they usually don't necessarily have. I thought they might complain but they actually wanted to help! \r\n\r\nI think that these gifts help me just as much as them because it allows me to see sides of the students I really don't, if ever, get to see. It makes me feel happy and grateful and so, so thankful. \r\n\r\nThank you! I'll never know you but I'll always be so curious about who would actually care enough to do this??? A beautiful mystery! These incredible gifts you have provided for us have made the world of difference. I would like to let you know that there were many \"ooohhs\" and \"aahhhhs\" when I showed them the huge boxes of markers, string with beads, craft trays, lighted wax warmer with scents for our room, and the sun catchers art projects. \r\n\r\nEverything has been put to immediate use and been so functional and helpful. I think that the sun catchers have been the most popular. There are 3 shapes to choose from (fish, butterfly, and bird) and just watching each student as their eyes lit up trying to choose an animal was thrilling! \r\n\r\nSome of the students that are most challenging in terms of focus and attention were transformed before my eyes. They slowed down, demonstrated great determination and skill with applying the paint to the animals, and even were happy to place them on the craft tray out of the way to dry over the next few days. \r\n\r\nThe students always love coloring, and were just simply happy to have ample markers with a steady flow of ink to use- they have created a lot of pictures, already proudly displayed on the wall (and some sent home to their mothers!). \r\n\r\nThe beads and strings have also proven to be a huge hit! Many already made bracelets and necklaces for their friends even before making one for themselves, which surprised me. Some wanted to take some home to work on outside of school, to which I gladly said yes. \r\n\r\nJust before writing this note to you, I was walking down the hallway to use the restroom. A student saw me, ran up to me, and immediately asked if she could come with me to work on her sun catcher and that she \"couldn't wait\" and wanted to \"skip the weekend\" so that next week would come faster- unheard of compliment! \r\n\r\nThese items have shown me that there it is important to try new things in order to reach people and that in doing so, we can help more people than we realize. I have done a lot of reflection around this and I cannot thank you all enough for giving me this gift. Without these items, none of these connections would have been made. \r\n\r\nWe all thank you with the most heartfelt sincerity! I don't know who you all are, but you are so special and have helped us. Your gifts improved school morale too, everyone was excited as the boxes arrived in the main office. The students immediately recognized the new cards and made many exclamations such as, \"Wow! New cards? Can I use the orange ones?\" and, \"Are these different than the other ones? We have new ones now? Cool!\"\r\n\r\nJust today I had a group I used them with and all 5 of the students in the group wanted to use the cards and when I accidently skipped a student I was promptly reminded, \"Hey! I want to use the cards. You forgot me.\" The images made us laugh and prompted a lot of conversation, which is just amazing. \r\n\r\nThank you, thank you, thank you!
