My students are curious, creative, capable learners building confidence in math. With our new button-making station, they turn formulas, vocabulary, strategies, patterns, and encouraging messages into designs. For our quadratics project, students chose an idea, explained its math meaning, and made a visual reminder of what they'd learned.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they gasped, crowded around the button maker, and started sketching ideas. One said, \"Wait, we get to wear our math? I'm making the quadratic formula one!\" Another asked if they could use a button as a cheat sheet on the next quiz. We laughed and chatted about how buttons are reminders to study from, not quiz-day notes. As students create and share designs, they practice problem solving and communication, take ownership of their learning, and see themselves as mathematicians and creators.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll connect buttons to our unit on exponential functions. Students will explain how each design relates to the math, then share it in a Button Gallery Walk where classmates guess the concept. I'll also share the station with a colleague so more students can benefit. Thank you for helping students collaborate and celebrate their growth.","fullyFundedDate":1785167233461,"projectUrl":"project/math-on-the-move/10394576/","projectTitle":"Math on the Move","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Silly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10558209_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784699277208","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10558209"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_24281","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":447,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"5 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":24281,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Basile High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Basile High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/evangeline-parish-school-district/basile-high-school/24281"}
