The new carpet, which comfortably seats all 24 of my students, has quickly become the heart of our room. It is where we begin each morning together, share stories, and engage in meaningful discussions that help us build community.\r\n\r\nThe blue bean bag chairs and stackable stools have given students flexible seating choices that help them feel calm, focused, and empowered to take ownership of their learning. These options have also created cozy reading corners and peaceful zones for reflection and self-regulation.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was seeing the students walk in and discover the new materials for the first time. Their faces lit up with surprise, and several students immediately sat down on the carpet as if it had always been theirs. Others excitedly tried out the bean bags, stretching out with huge smiles. A few students proudly said, \"This feels like a real reading room!\" Their joy set the tone for the day.\r\n\r\nThe books focused on growth mindset and social-emotional learning have already become part of our daily lessons. During a recent discussion on perseverance, one student shared, \"I can try again even if it's hard, just like the character did.\" These moments show how powerful these resources are for helping children build confidence, resilience, empathy, and emotional vocabulary.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include guiding students through community-building circles and small-group SEL activities that use the new books as shared texts. The flexible seating will continue to support collaboration, calm-down routines, and independent reading time throughout the year.\r\n\r\nYour support has made our classroom feel safe, joyful, and student-centered. My students feel the impact every day, and I am deeply grateful for the difference you have made.","fullyFundedDate":1749215601605,"projectUrl":"project/space-for-us-empowering-young-girls-u/9353868/","projectTitle":"Space for Us: Empowering Young Girls & Uplifting All Voices","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Maiden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp494058_orig.jpg?crop=274,274,x99,y241&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749564421017","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/traceymaiden"},{"teacherId":9370067,"projectId":9411510,"letterContent":"Our new rainbow carts, laptop cart, and book bins have already made a big impact in our classroom. The rainbow carts are helping us keep student papers organized by subject and group, which has made transitions much smoother. The three-tier cart is being used daily to store and transport laptops and Orton-Gillingham materials. The new black book bins give each student a personal space to store their independent reading books, which has encouraged more consistent reading time.\r\n\r\nWith the rainbow carts, each student could find their work quickly, and we didn't lose any papers in the shuffle. It made the whole process feel more professional for them, and they were so proud to see their work stay neat and organized. The black book bins felt like \"their own little library,\" and many students started filling them right away.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on building stronger reading fluency and comprehension skills. With laptops and Orton-Gillingham supplies organized and ready to go, we can dive right into small group lessons without wasting time searching for materials. The next step for my students is to continue using these resources to become more independent learners who are responsible for their own materials!","fullyFundedDate":1754351514616,"projectUrl":"project/rolling-into-organization-bright-storag/9411510/","projectTitle":"Rolling Into Organization: Bright Storage for Brighter Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jozak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9370067_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700262432786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9370067"},{"teacherId":9819329,"projectId":8909011,"letterContent":"The wiggle stools have been an exciting and valuable addition to our 4th-grade classroom. When the students first saw them, their excitement was incredible! They were thrilled to have more flexible seating options, especially knowing they would be able to use them during small group activities and independent work. The stools have proven to be a great tool for helping students who find it difficult to stay focused in a typical seating arrangements. By allowing them to gently move and shift their position while working, the stools help keep their minds engaged without being distracting to others.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, students are using the wiggle stools in a variety of ways. During small group sessions, students are able to wiggle and move as they discuss ideas, solve problems, or collaborate on projects. This flexibility has created a more active learning environment where students feel more comfortable and engaged. For students who struggle with staying still, the stools provide just the right amount of movement to help them focus and stay on task. The positive response from the students has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic—they feel more in control of their learning and better able to concentrate.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue using the wiggle stools during both independent work and group activities. To ensure that all students benefit from the flexible seating, we'll rotate the stools to different workstations, giving everyone a chance to use them throughout the day. Moving forward, I also hope to introduce additional sensory tools and flexible seating options to further support the diverse learning needs of my students and help create an even more dynamic classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1731463353984,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-4th-graders/8909011/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating 4th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rappoport","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9819329"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81526","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":433,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":16,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"2 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.3,"schoolId":81526,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bartle Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bartle Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/highland-park-school-district/bartle-elementary-school/81526"}
