The new books have made it easier to confer with students individually, support struggling readers with approachable texts, and challenge advanced readers with stories that stretch their thinking. Choice has transformed reading from a task into something students look forward to each day.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to stay engaged during independent reading are now eagerly reaching for books and asking to continue reading beyond our scheduled time. Watching students recommend titles to one another, laugh at shared moments in stories, and experience the pride of finishing a book has been incredibly powerful.
