It warms my heart so much putting books in students' hands, seeing their excited faces! As a librarian, my number 1 objective is to share and foster a love for reading and books. \r\n\r\nWe spend a lot of time engaged with a read aloud as well as reading independently. Through our class read aloud, I model various reading and engagement strategies that students then employ independently with a book of choice. It is so important that students have the opportunity to select and read their own books. And, with that, students need engaging options.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helps provide those engaging options for our students to become life-long readers and learners.","fullyFundedDate":1758856528429,"projectUrl":"project/we-love-to-read/9747904/","projectTitle":"We Love to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-brown-school-054"},{"teacherId":9364878,"projectId":9303777,"letterContent":"My students love station day in the library. This is often used as an incentive for classes to work toward during the week, but it is also essential time for being creative, working collaboratively, and allows me time to assist students with checking out books. They love playing with the legos, k'nex, puppets, magnatiles. Their new favorite is the marble run.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation provided my students with the opportunity to build, create, and collaborate. We've also used the materials to relate to our lessons. Recently students created non-fiction animals such as horses, dogs, caterpillars out of playdough and then fictionalized them; for example, turning a horse into a unicorn. Students were able to receive fun activities as well (crossword and word search puzzles, matching activities, and pre/post assessments). Students were also able to create their own notes and graphic organizers for their state writing tasks. \r\nThey did an amazing job! \r\n\r\nThe chart paper allowed me to create relevant anchor charts for students to analyze tier 2 vocabulary, words they might see across over contents. \r\n\r\nAll in all, your donation made a huge impact on my students' academic growth.","fullyFundedDate":1742841340513,"projectUrl":"project/word-geniuses/9087455/","projectTitle":"Word Geniuses","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9212507_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704799649539","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9212507"},{"teacherId":9364878,"projectId":9304009,"letterContent":"I'm so excited to share with you the before and after pictures of my school library. When I first accepted the position, I walked in and felt immediately disappointed. The library looked like a large classroom with books and junk piled everywhere. It was not the cozy school library that I had pictured in my head. Worse, the books were so disorganized and not well-cared for that I couldn't even find the basic sections for fiction, non-fiction, and everybody (picture books).\r\n\r\nIt has taken me 2 years to organize the books and display them as they should be. We now have a school library that looks like a library but also includes displays to showcase various titles the way a book store does. These displays attract a lot of attention, which leads to books in students hands. The displayed books are the most circulated books in the collection. I can't wait to see how our circulation numbers look this year compared to the previous 2 school years.
