The bright Crayola markers and crayons helped bring their stories to life, and the Post-it easel pads were perfect for sharing ideas during group discussions.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also helped us stay organized and creative throughout the day. When my students first saw the watercolor paints, paper, crayons, and sharpies, their eyes lit up with joy. Many of them had never had access to such high-quality materials before, and they immediately began experimenting with blending colors, layering textures, and sketching out their own ideas. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who is usually very quiet beam with pride as she shared her vibrant watercolor sunset with the class.\r\nWe've already started using the supplies in our art projects, including a unit where students created self-portraits with watercolor backgrounds to represent their personalities and interests. Having the right paper and tools made their work more meaningful—they could truly see their ideas come to life without worrying about materials running out or breaking. The crayon sharpener has even become a little classroom favorite, making it easy for students to keep their crayons fresh and ready to use.\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be incorporating these supplies into cross-curricular projects, such as illustrating science concepts with watercolor diagrams and creating storybook pages in language arts. Your support has given my students not only the tools to create, but also the confidence and excitement to express themselves in new ways. Thank you for investing in their creativity and making our classroom a place where art and imagination can flourish.","fullyFundedDate":1742949187663,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-creativity-to-life-with-essenti/9182261/","projectTitle":"Bringing Creativity to Life with Essential Art Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Negrete","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8424879_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752024465043","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8424879"},{"teacherId":9162414,"projectId":8785210,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of writing journals for my first-grade students! The book MEH has helped me reach some of my students who lack the motivation to do work from time to time. Many are behind grade level, so I allow them the time and space to tell me why they are feeling unmotivated. \r\nI have students who drop in during morning and lunch recess. Your thoughtful contribution has made a significant difference, and I wanted to take a moment to convey how much it means to us. Your gesture is a powerful reminder that each of us has the ability to make a positive difference, no matter how small it may seem.\r\nThe goal of my project was to get headphones for all of my students so they could use with their Chromebook and listen to stories from the curriculum, stories from our current reading program. These stories have a theme focus from \"Family and Friends\" to currently, \"Live and Learn: How people can help out their community\". These stories are at a second-grade reading level, but not all of my students are reading at grade level. Using headphones allows them to plug into their Chromebooks and listen to the stories to still have access to the curriculum. Other books that are above or below second-grade reading level, online can be read to them also. Again, using headphones allows them to plug into their Chromebooks and listen to the stories for enjoyment. My students can be independent and listen to a story if they need to. Some students enjoy reading a physical book but most enjoy being read to. With the help of headphones, all students can enjoy listening to their own stories. \r\nAs someone who has always appreciated the power of a good book, I understand how important it is to have the right tools for immersing oneself in a story or learning experience. For many individuals, especially those who love reading but face limitations in accessing physical books, audiobooks can be a transformative resource. Your donation helps ensure that they will have the opportunity to enjoy stories, discover new ideas, and expand their minds through the written word. Whether it is a story about adventures, a story about Captain Underpants, a book about basketball or a captivating audiobook, the headphones you've provided will allow my students to fully engage in their learning journeys and foster a love of reading.\r\nMy most struggling students have to adjust, or figure-it out quickly, because they know they struggle with reading. They are quick to getting their headphones so they do not disrupt their classmates. Most of my students are English Language learners and need English models. Listening to stories allows them to listen to English speaking readers. \r\nIn addition to the headphones, I was also able to get storage bags to help keep my students organized. Each student has a numbered bag to quickly access their headphones. It is necessary to have a set of headphones and bag per student for the health of each student, no sharing of headphones.\r\nOnce again, thank you for your donation. Your support is truly appreciated, and it will make a lasting impact to create a love of reading. Please know that your contribution is making a difference in the lives of many, and we are incredibly thankful for your help.","fullyFundedDate":1726339173826,"projectUrl":"project/getting-comfy-and-cozy-in-the-listening/8717893/","projectTitle":"Getting Comfy and Cozy in the Listening Center","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arenas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9715539_orig.jpg?crop=375,376,x0,y7&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724893772468","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9715539"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40886","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":343,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"19.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.3,"schoolId":40886,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barbara Webster Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Barbara Webster Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santa-paula-unified-school-district/barbara-webster-elementary-school/40886"}
