Each day, my numbers are at capacity, with some students showing up and asking to stay even though they did not sign up. Listening to conversations about why students picked their bead colors, or the anticipated reaction of the recipient, creates an element of excitement in the day. Hosting this group has also given me a sense of pride when students exclaim their gratitude when making a birthday or holiday gift for a loved one. \r\nWhile students are excited to search through different beads to find the perfect one, I think they are more excited about the sense of community that happens in the classroom, which is why they keep coming back. \r\nSeeing how this activity promotes calm and friendship for the children has inspired me to extend that environment to my colleagues. Instead of shifting around or getting distracted by sore backs and stiff chairs, they are able to put their energy into learning English, participating in group activities, and building confidence in their academic skills.
