The impact on my students has been immediate and powerful. When one of my students opened a book and saw it in her home language, she smiled and said, \"I know this.\" Another student was so excited to check out a book in Spanish and English because he wanted to read it with his younger siblings. \r\n\r\nThe books have already changed how my students see themselves as readers. Kids who were hesitant to pick up a book are now more confident because they know they can lean on their first language when they need to. I've watched them sit together, comparing words between English and their home language, and helping each other make sense of new vocabulary. It has created not only stronger readers, but also a stronger classroom community.\r\n\r\nYour gift means more than just adding books to our shelves. You've given my students a sense of belonging, pride, and joy in learning. From me and from them, thank you for making such a meaningful difference.","fullyFundedDate":1747581466368,"projectUrl":"project/multilingual-graphic-novels-for-english/9343268/","projectTitle":"Multilingual Graphic Novels for English Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hulscher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10031502_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y381&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746822735245","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031502"},{"teacherId":9743305,"projectId":8765181,"letterContent":"Headphones have had a profound impact on 7th-grade math students, particularly in creating a more focused and personalized learning environment. By allowing students to listen to instructional videos, podcasts, audio lessons, or even just listening to music while they work, headphones help reduce classroom distractions, enabling students to concentrate more effectively. For students who benefit from auditory learning, headphones provide the opportunity to hear explanations, steps, and problem-solving strategies in a way that supports their learning style. This accessibility ensures that all students, whether they are visual or auditory learners, have the tools they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nMoreover, headphones have facilitated individualized learning experiences, especially with the rise of digital learning platforms. Through interactive math programs, students can engage with lessons at their own pace, replaying sections they find challenging or accelerating through content they grasp easily. This flexibility fosters greater confidence and mastery in math, as students feel empowered to take control of their learning. Additionally, headphones have proven invaluable in inclusive classrooms, where students with learning differences or language barriers can benefit from tailored audio support, bridging gaps and improving overall academic performance in mathematics.","fullyFundedDate":1730213361488,"projectUrl":"project/keep-a-teacher-sane-headphones-for-stud/8765181/","projectTitle":"Keep a Teacher Sane! I have already gotten such great use out of the materials from this project. I had a student rip the pocket on her brand new jacket recently and I was able to use the sewing kit to repair it for her. Another day, I had a student come to me after lunch very upset about having spilled sauce on his white sweatshirt, and I was able to help him remove the stain with a Shout wipe. The Kleenex and band-aids have been helpful daily, especially as we are in the thick of cold and flu season.
