My class is a reading intervention class. We split our time into 3 parts: small group for direct instruction, individualized software for guided practice, and independent reading to apply our skills. We can't make progress without all 3 parts.
Headphones play a critical part in my students' day to day learning. Their software is geared towards the gaps they have in basic phonemic awareness. When they work on their software, they use the headphones to correctly hear how letters, blends and words sound. They also use the microphone to practice saying those sounds and to practice reading text fluently.
Unfortunately, our old headphones are starting to break down and we are spending time each day taping headphones back together and wiggling the jack to get a better connection. With your generous donation, we will be able to work on our software without those distractions. My students are always grateful when technology is working correctly so they can focus on their learning. I know they would be beyond excited if we had new headphones.
