In a title one school, our budget isn't always enough to buy the equipment we would like, or even to be equitable to some of the other schools in the district. The kids were psyched when the mats arrived, they were crowding around me with curiosity about what could be in these big boxes! When I pulled out the new mats, they all wanted to do gymnastics and yoga, a few of the kids even thought we could have wrestling matches on them! The first unit we did was Winter Olympics, and the sturdiness of these new mats made them perfect to put on scooters to pretend we were bobsledding, as you can see from the photos they had a blast. We also used them for gymnastics stations, and for yoga. I'm hoping to get more use from them next year, as I ordered them fairly late in the school year.
