In an effort to combat student distraction, I have been moving away from using chromebooks in the classroom and going back to pen and paper work. Having the classroom textbooks is extremely helpful in this endeavor. Students are less distracted, more on task, and able to absorb information better. There are plenty of scientific studies that show students learn better with pen and paper than on the computer. Being a teacher is nothing short of challenging, and that is especially true when we do not have the resources we need to fully engage and educate our students. As a Spanish teacher, I appreciate online translators that help facilitate the translation process. However, the frequency of students abusing these resources entirely meant they were not actually learning but rather copy pasting. Now that I have started using dictionaries in class, I notice a significant change in the students. They are less willing to take shortcuts and are more willing to put in the effort to actually learn words they don't know. This change certainly would not have been possible without your support and for that I am immensely grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1724351396069,"projectUrl":"project/spanish-teacher-in-need-of-dictionaries/8417266/","projectTitle":"Spanish Teacher in Need of Dictionaries","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Profe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9553309"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60309","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2030,"numTeachers":108,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.7,"schoolId":60309,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Attleboro High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Attleboro High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/attleboro-public-school-district/attleboro-high-school/60309"}
