Our gymnasium is often a very busy environment, with five or six classes taking place in the gym at the same time. With hundreds of students participating in different activities simultaneously, it can be difficult for teachers to provide direct instruction, introduce new concepts, and make sure every student can clearly hear and understand the lesson. While physical activity is at the heart of our courses, there is also an important academic component to physical education that can sometimes be difficult to deliver in such a large and active setting.\r\n\r\nThe Nearpod subscription gives us an additional tool to overcome these challenges. Through interactive online lessons, students can access important information related to fitness, health, nutrition, safety, sports, and lifelong physical activity in a format that is engaging and accessible. Instead of relying solely on verbal instruction in a noisy gym, teachers can provide students with visual presentations, interactive activities, questions, videos, and other learning opportunities that allow them to better understand and retain important concepts.\r\n\r\nNearpod also allows students to take a more active role in their learning. This flexibility has made instruction more accessible and has increased student participation.\r\nAs I continue growing as an educator, I am excited to strengthen my skills in creating interactive simulations, branching scenarios, and personalized learning experiences. This led to a class discussion on equivalent fractions and students took photos of how the bar was split and uploading those photos online. Then we used our equivalent fractions to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Lastly, students were asked to reflect on how this activity built on or clarified previous knowledge.\r\n\r\nIt was a wonderful activity to look forward to and provided a valuable opportunity to discuss prior misconceptions regarding fraction rules and why they work. \r\n\r\nThis would not have been possible without your generosity.
