Many of the children I teach are autistic preschoolers who are still learning how to communicate their needs, regulate their emotions, and make sense of a busy classroom environment.\r\n\r\nFor some of them, even small things—like too much noise, movement, or visual stimulation—can make learning feel impossible.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity in funding our room divider, our classroom has transformed into a calmer, more supportive space where my students can truly thrive.\r\n\r\nThe divider has allowed us to create smaller, clearly defined areas for learning and play. Now we can separate quiet work areas from active play spaces, giving students a place where they can focus without distractions. For some of my students, having this visual boundary helps them understand where they are supposed to be and what they are supposed to do.\r\n\r\nWhat may look like a simple classroom tool is actually helping my students build independence and confidence. It helps them feel safe enough to try new things—whether that is sitting at a table for the first time, engaging in play with a peer, or participating in a small group activity.\r\n\r\nEvery day I see small but powerful victories: a child staying engaged in an activity a little longer, a student transitioning more smoothly between tasks, or a quiet moment where a child feels calm enough to learn.\r\n\r\nThese moments are possible because of caring people like you.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their future. Your kindness has helped create a classroom environment where our youngest learners can feel secure, supported, and ready to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1765297128962,"projectUrl":"project/distraction-free-zone-for-cool-kids/9796147/","projectTitle":"Distraction Free Zone for Cool Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Malcom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10303204_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y252&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759800470256","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10303204"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70727","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":771,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":70727,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Atha Road Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Atha Road Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/walton-county-school-district/atha-road-elementary-school/70727"}
