They immediately began talking about what they wanted to build and were especially excited to recognize familiar Minecraft and Bluey characters. One of my favorite moments was watching students work together at the LEGO table to create a home and an entire neighborhood for their characters. They shared pieces, discussed their ideas, and proudly explained every part of their creation.\r\n\r\nWe use these resources during purposeful play and hands-on learning activities. Building together helps students strengthen fine-motor skills, creativity, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. The LEGO table also provides an organized, inviting space where students can collaborate and bring their imaginations to life.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to connect the materials to our classroom learning. Students will plan and build structures, count and sort bricks, create patterns, and use their creations as inspiration for drawing, labeling, and beginning writing. When my students first saw the colorful playdough, letter and number stamps, rollers, and character pieces, they were so excited and could not wait to begin creating. One of my favorite moments was watching students roll out the playdough and use the alphabet stamps to build their names and practice the letters we were learning. They were proud to show their creations to their classmates and teachers.\r\n\r\nWe use these materials during purposeful play, literacy centers, math activities, and fine-motor practice. Students can form letters and numbers, build words, create sets to represent quantities, explore patterns and textures, and design imaginative characters. These activities strengthen the small muscles needed for writing while also encouraging creativity, problem-solving, language development, and cooperation.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to use the playdough materials to practice newly learned letters and build the heart words we are learning in class. The hard candy—Life Savers and Jolly Ranchers—has brought a source of something to suck on.\r\n\r\nThe storage containers hold these items, which is a huge help also. The pillow covers and weighted stuffed Smilies bring comfort and a sense of coziness to the resting area for kiddos.\r\n\r\nThe fidgets, including the snake-like fidgets and stress balls, are incredible. The flexible seating provided by the stools allows my kindergarteners to stay comfortable and engaged during lessons. At this age, movement and choice are so important, and having seating options helps students focus longer and participate more confidently. The dry-erase table has quickly become one of the most exciting learning spaces in our classroom. Students are eager to practice letter formation, write sight words, solve math problems, and collaborate with their peers in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nBecause of these materials, I've been able to incorporate more interactive and collaborative learning experiences into my teaching. Instead of limiting writing practice to paper and pencil, students can now brainstorm, revise, and try again without fear of making mistakes. The dry-erase surface encourages risk-taking and creativity, which is so important in kindergarten. The stools also make small group instruction smoother and more flexible, allowing me to better meet the needs of all learners.","fullyFundedDate":1770129076470,"projectUrl":"project/wiggly-seats-creative-writing-spaces-f/9967972/","projectTitle":"Wiggly Seats & Creative Writing Spaces for Growing Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9776875_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x119,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745609796829","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9776875"},{"teacherId":9776875,"projectId":9950918,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our kindergarten classroom! We all worked together to organize the materials with labels, ensuring a very structured and easy-to-manage system. We took about 2 weeks to learn about all the materials and how to use them. Once the kitchen was \"open, \" several of them immediately began organizing a \"restaurant,\" while others took turns being shoppers and cashiers in our pretend grocery store. This year, your generosity helped bring in new math read-aloud books that are already making a big difference.\r\n\r\nIn our kindergarten class, we don't just read—we explore. These new books help students learn essential math concepts, such as counting, comparing, shapes, and spatial relationships, all through joyful stories and vibrant illustrations. Reading time has become a space where math and language come together in powerful ways.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorites is Turtle Splash!, where we learn to count and describe what we see. The children love predicting what will happen next, acting out positions like \"under\" or \"beside,\" and using new math words in conversation.\r\n\r\nI've seen incredible growth already. Isaiah now speaks up during math time, using new vocabulary from the books. And during play, students spot math in the world around them—\"Look, that window's a rectangle!\" one student shouted on a walk last week.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is filled with books that spark curiosity, build confidence, and connect reading to real-life thinking.
