As soon as the box got delivered, the room was filled with smiles, cheers, gasps, and pure excitement. Right now, we are focusing on building anticipation for this book, but I think the excitement has been there all along. Many students are familiar with parts of the story, but they're excited to get to read it from start to finish! \r\n\r\nThrough this book, students will get to learn to build on their academic and social emotional skills. Through Auggie's story, students will learn to analyze characters, make inferences, and understand multiple perspectives. They will also learn about kindness, empathy, courage, and acceptance. All of these lessons will help them grow not only as readers, but as compassionate and respectful students/individuals. \r\n\r\nWe started building anticipation by looking at the book cover and trying to figure out what this book could possibly be about. As we continue, we will read paragraph by paragraph together. We will be pausing every so often to dig deeper into the characters and lessons throughout the book. \r\n\r\nThis book will teach all students to accept one another despite their differences. Through this read, some students will feel seen and understood, while others will connect even more with their natural kindness and empathy. For those still learning how to show compassion, this story will help them grow into classmates who lift each other up.","fullyFundedDate":1760435153566,"projectUrl":"project/spreading-kindness-one-page-at-a-time/9779303/","projectTitle":"Spreading Kindness, One Page at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Borquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9092252"},{"teacherId":8986394,"projectId":8492469,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom through DonorsChoose! I want to take a moment to share how much our students have been enjoying the process of creating their ELA notebooks. This activity provides them with a much-needed break from using Chromebooks in school, and it allows them to tap into their creativity while learning important writing skills.\r\n\r\nAs they work on their notebooks, students have been piecing together various pages, which helps them brainstorm ideas for their writing assignments later on. This hands-on approach not only makes learning more engaging but also encourages them to express their thoughts and ideas in new ways.\r\n\r\nWe have recently started a lesson focused on sentence structures, as it is a crucial skill for their writing development. This lesson will serve as a foundational building block for several students who are still working to master this important aspect of writing. We are excited to continue to expand our writing abilities with the guidance of this donated TPT resource.\r\n\r\nI also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations to our class. Your support means so much to us, and it truly makes a difference in our students' learning experiences.
