Esperanza Rising is a wonderful novel that has many aspects that relate to my students lives. My goal is to make a cross-curricular project that strengthens their ELA skills while exploring art as a medium to communicate emotions. We will read and listen to the novel and the students will produce a piece of watercolor art to display in class and around campus to show their thoughts and feeling about the text and how it relates to them. The backpack rack is a huge need because to keep students safe their bags are put on the floor in the corner. Our backpacks need a safe home!
