The tools were as simple as colorful sticky notes and markers. We engage in a lot of close reading strategies. Students were able to create a set of symbols to use and reuse during close reading lessons. The abundance of sticky notes allows us to make new sets as necessary without worrying about \"running out\". The students and I also work in groups to create anchor charts and visual aids. \r\n Two of the favorite items were Twist and Kanoodle. The kids were SO excited when we unpacked this! Some had an opportunity to use these logic games in first grade. Some had never seen the games. It was heart warming to watch those with experience teach the others how to work to solve. Sometimes students teaching students is most effective. We use these games in the morning, after morning work is complete, when students are finished after assessments and occasionally during an indoor recess.\r\n These are only several of the items we received, please accept our thanks for all!","fullyFundedDate":1725972771943,"projectUrl":"project/wake-up-brain/8752996/","projectTitle":"Wake Up, Brain!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schieno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9720870"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45090","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":428,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":10,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":12.3,"schoolId":45090,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Arrowhead Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Arrowhead Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/billings-school-district-2/arrowhead-elementary-school/45090"}
