It is a happy, cozy place where students can read silently, take a time out, work on math facts, and more.\r\n\r\nThe students were amazed at how big the new rug was! It made the \"Book Nook\" twice as big! Instead of two students at a time, we expanded silent reading to four students at a time.\r\n\r\nThe students were fascinated by the carpet sweeper! They had no idea you could vacuum a rug with no electricity involved. They have clamored to be the person to keep the rug lint-free! We practiced how to play with all of the new toys so that when it was finally time for the Kitchen Center to open, everyone knew how to play gently with the materials.\r\n\r\nWe also focused our learning on the kind of conversations to have while at the kitchen center. We brainstormed ways to play such as pretending the center was a house, a restaurant and a coffee shop. Students came up ideas for ways to play that were very creative and fostered kind conversations with each other. The kitchen center has provided an opportunity for so many new language skills for our classroom. \r\n\r\nOur students have been able to work on language skills and valuable friendship lessons because of the new materials you have provided.
