The new supplies, from colorful markers and poster boards to our new rolling whiteboard, have made a huge difference in how my students explore and share their understanding of science. My students now use the whiteboard during small group discussions to model scientific ideas and record their data during investigations. The bright markers and posters have turned our classroom into a space filled with creativity and visible thinking. When my students first saw the new materials, they were so excited. They immediately began using the supplies to decorate project boards and illustrate their scientific models. Many students said the new markers and posters made their projects \"look official,\" and they took great pride in presenting their work. The timers and classroom clock have also helped students stay organized and focused during labs, while tools like scissors and magnets have made group activities smoother and more engaging.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will use these resources to support upcoming science projects where they explain patterns in motion and forces. These tools have made it possible for them to plan, design, and present their scientific ideas in ways that feel professional and empowering. Thank you for making learning more interactive, structured, and fun for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1746785769530,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-success-supporting-visual-lea/9291825/","projectTitle":"Tools for Success: Supporting Visual Learning and Creative Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Herrera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9693766"},{"teacherId":3526450,"projectId":5625140,"letterContent":"I have been able to continue making history come alive with the items you all have donated to my classroom. Over the past 3 years students have been able to use these at the beginning of every unit when learning about the revolution. I lay these items out on a table in the back of the room, so they see them as they walk into the classroom. The commotion, excitement, and anticipation is always the same. They become naturally curious to understand more about the days lesson.\r\n\r\nFirst, I walk the student through a gallery walk while we learn about the story of the American revolution. After this, they retell parts of the story using the little ships with the British and American flags, the tea, the cotton, the compass, and other items to explain how the triangle trade worked, why, and who profited. Questions arise about how and why in ways that make the discussions deeper and more meaningful. The tangible nature of these items items help my students with slower processing make deeper connections and understanding, than if I were to just make them read the story. These items have become treasured pieces in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1626799928757,"projectUrl":"project/lets-play-the-american-revolution/5625140/","projectTitle":"Lets Play: The American Revolution!","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Gonzalez, Munguia-Orozco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3526450_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628334140902","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teacherjessica"},{"teacherId":9099684,"projectId":8759309,"letterContent":"A million thanks for supporting my students. We read well over 1,000 pages. For the first time, students were actually engaging with books voluntarily. They sought out and read stories that captured their interests. That is a big deal and possibly the milestone of which I am most proud.\r\n\r\nOur school has a class dedicated to 30 minutes of reading every day. I created reading journals to support students in further engaging with their books. You can see them holding up the journals in one of the images. They must have loved the journals because they did not want me to share them with other classes. They took ownership of the reading culture in our class and that brought me great joy.\r\n\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your support. The revamped reading corner—with its comfy bean bag chairs, colorful rug, and shelves stocked with student-selected books—has become one of the most beloved spots in our room.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks like students curled up with a Dog Man book, sharing laughs with friends over Smile by Raina Telgemeier, or eagerly flipping through pages of The Last Kids on Earth series. The cozy setting has made a big difference—students are reading more frequently and staying engaged for longer periods. It's not uncommon to see a student asking to finish a chapter during lunch or revisiting a favorite book during our independent reading block.\r\n\r\nThese books are doing more than entertaining—they're teaching essential literacy skills. Students are learning to analyze character development, track themes, and make text-to-self and text-to-world connections. With graphic novels like Drama or Ghosts, students who once hesitated to pick up a book are now gaining confidence in their reading comprehension and discussing stories with their peers.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a reading environment that not only supports learning but also sparks joy. Your kindness has made a lasting impact on our classroom and inspired a new generation of readers.","fullyFundedDate":1735574383192,"projectUrl":"project/revamped-reading-corner/8722876/","projectTitle":"Revamped Reading Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Herrera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9693766"},{"teacherId":8888462,"projectId":8769550,"letterContent":"Another gracious thank you for your support in helping create our Animo Legacy yearbook. The supplies you've provided have helped greatly in keep our staff efficient and helping student to develop their skills. \r\n\r\nThe scanner came in clutch to help with collecting baby photos from our 8th graders, we were able to scan and upload the physical photos to add to our spread! The most popular item has been the computer mice, which allow students to edit pages with more ease. Our students' backs are grateful that they don't have to be hunched over the Chromebooks any more. The card readers have also been a hit, allowing students more freedom to view and select the photos they want to appear. Previously, we were using my work laptop or having to upload all the photos to Google Drive without being able to pare down the great shots. With this new equipment, more students are able to work on their pages at the same time, rather than having to wait for me. The monitor has also been great at showing off work and helping me show the students what needs to be done on a page. Again, it affords me the freedom to work with more students rather than having to crowd over one laptop. \r\n\r\nWith our deadline coming up in the second week of April, we are fast approaching this yearbook's end. It's been a learning experience for me and the students and I'm so excited to share our final publication! Thank you for making this possible for this year's staff and for future staff as well.
