Many couldn't believe these items were just for them. Something as simple as having deodorant, wipes, or body spray available made them feel valued and cared for.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these resources, students have been able to focus more on their learning instead of worrying about personal discomfort or embarrassment. I've seen a noticeable boost in participation and confidence—students are raising their hands more, engaging in group work, and showing up ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWe've also connected this project to our ongoing classroom goals around self-care, confidence, and respect for self and others. Students are learning that taking care of themselves is part of preparing for success—both in and out of school.\r\n\r\nYour generosity gave my students more than supplies—you gave them comfort, dignity, and motivation to keep striving for their goals.","fullyFundedDate":1761837651281,"projectUrl":"project/clean-confident-supporting-student-su/9611799/","projectTitle":"Clean & Confident: Supporting Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Person","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8668976_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755401381319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8668976"},{"teacherId":8668976,"projectId":9578928,"letterContent":"When the new bookshelf arrived, my students' excitement was immediate—they couldn't wait to unpack the boxes of books and start organizing our new reading corner. Together, we arranged the shelves by genre and color, turning what used to be an empty space into a vibrant \"reading hub.\" Now, every day during independent reading time, students rush to the corner to browse, trade recommendations, and curl up with a good book. One student proudly said, \"It feels like a real library in here now!\"—and that sense of ownership has made a noticeable difference in their engagement.\r\n\r\nSince adding the bookshelf, reading has become a more joyful, social, and meaningful part of our day. Students are exploring stories they might not have picked up before, discussing characters, and even creating mini book reviews to share with classmates. The visibility and accessibility of the books have truly encouraged curiosity and confidence in reading. Our next step is to build on this momentum by incorporating student-led book talks and creating a \"Reader of the Week\" display to celebrate progress and passion for reading. Thanks to this project, my students now see reading not as an assignment, but as an adventure they get to choose every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757207414915,"projectUrl":"project/a-shelf-for-stories-a-corner-for-dreams/9578928/","projectTitle":"A Shelf for Stories, A Corner for Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Person","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8668976_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755401381319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8668976"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125432","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":300,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":56,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.2,"schoolId":125432,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Animo Compton Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Animo Compton Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/compton-unified-school-district/animo-compton-charter-school/125432"}
