Although I teach a four-five combo class this year, I have students reading at the 8th grade level and some still trying their best to reach first and second grade goals. This donation of books really helped to provide students with leveled readers across the board. Books we received include graphic novels, fictional tales and science non-fiction.\r\nReading is meant to be a fun task in our class! Having books that are relatable, such as these donations were, helped my students stay engaged. Of the twenty-six students in the classroom, 21 of them reached their AR goal for the first trimester. This is an incredible feat and a big reason we are grateful for the people who made it possible! \r\nThis huge donation also included a great deal of math manipulatives to help students gain a deeper understanding of math principals. The use of these objects really helps students see practical applications of math strategies. For example, the play money in both dollars and cents let the kids use their imaginations when converting those values into decimals and percentages! I am incredibly thankful for each person who has donated to our class; these donations, big and small, are building skills which will last a lifetime!","fullyFundedDate":1757519070435,"projectUrl":"project/today-a-reader-tomorrow-a-leader/9610947/","projectTitle":"Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hepler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10166261_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y222&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755346074268","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10166261"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40105","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":284,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":40105,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Anderson Heights Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Anderson Heights Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/cascade-union-elementary-school-district/anderson-heights-elementary-school/40105"}
