Now we have a clean, comfortable, sturdy place to gather that we didn't have before. When the students gather on the rug to sit in a circle for morning meeting, we begin with a greeting, and continue with a time of sharing. It's delightful to see the children take ownership of the meeting time and choose questions they would like to share answers to, or be picked to tell about something going on in their lives lately. We call this roll the meeting leader. It is a coveted privilege! Then we get to use our rug for many, many more activities thought the day.
