Being able to have a calm space in my classroom has been really helpful for my students. It allows them to take a break when needed and get back to learning quickly. The calm corner has helped our class build a community in our classroom that focuses on belonging, kindness, service and understanding. Students know that they have a safe space within the classroom to help them when they are struggling and their peers are understanding of each others needs. This will make a very large difference ion my classroom. These books have a lot of resources for practicing the math principles that we are learning. They help me to plan lessons that meet the students at their level in math. These also allow me to help those who are further behind by giving them some additional guides from the book. They are also full of engaging ideas on how to teach the content in a way that will spark the students' interest.","fullyFundedDate":1750818907942,"projectUrl":"project/math-a-lot-math-resources/9378256/","projectTitle":"Math-A-Lot! My students are loving the new math games! They are using them when we are done with class instructions, and they have finished their homework. The state has banned phones during class, so these games allow them to continue practicing their math, mental, and problem solving skills in a fun and creative way. We also use them for practice instead of notes to review how graphing works. \r\n\r\nThe students were hesitant since it is a math game, but they started to sincerely enjoy them as they played with them more. They are now the most popular resource in the classroom, as students love to play it whenever there is a chance.","fullyFundedDate":1750816218027,"projectUrl":"project/math-fun-games-edition/9378508/","projectTitle":"Math Fun: Games Edition","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Davidson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9987766"},{"teacherId":9987766,"projectId":9218461,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our school! You have helped these students so much in their learning. These calculators are helping our students engage, participate, and learn more. We have a high percentage of SPED students in our population who have a lowered confidence in math. With these calculators, it makes it easier for them to engage in the problems we are solving on their own, without being prompted. They are also answering more questions in the class learning time, which in turn is allowing them to learn the content more than ever before. \r\n\r\nOn the calculators, there are lots of features that have helped students fill in the gaps in their learning. They struggle with turning fractions into decimals, decimals into fractions, and percentages into decimals. They calculate regression, functions tables, probability, and trigonometry in an easier way to understand and perform. They also love the color, compared to the old dark blue calculators.","fullyFundedDate":1746786369121,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-conquering-comprehension/9218461/","projectTitle":"Calculators Conquering Comprehension","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Davidson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9987766"},{"teacherId":9987766,"projectId":9218458,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the whiteboard materials! They have been so helpful in teaching clarity and student participation. The whiteboards are used each period, where students will grab them, a marker, and an eraser as they are going to their seats. When we are completing an example together, more students than ever before are participating, following along, and copying the steps down! Also, more students are willing to try and attempt the example, knowing that their answer is not permanent and everyone could get it wrong. \r\n\r\nThe students were incredibly excited when they first saw the materials, as we do not get new items very often. They were enthusiastic over the opportunity to participate more, or to have an outlet for their ideas where they weren't judged for them. \r\n\r\nCurrently, I am trying to get graphing calculators for my students to learn how to use them for STEM activities. \r\n\r\nAs a result of your generous contribution, students are learning math and participating at a higher rate than before in my classroom! Although I love all of my classes, they have been challenging, and I am so grateful for you donation. The lesson plans that I have been able to create for my language learners have been invaluable. I have bought flashcards, and even a small novel unit for my more advanced ESL students. My classroom has been alive, and the students have been invested in the lessons they are learning. Thank you so much for helping me to bring my students these materials that they would not have gotten otherwise. They laugh at almost every page, and can't believe the crazy antics of the main character. I am so excited to see these low level readers become interested in something. They are very much enjoying the wacky world, and are always upset when I stop reading to them. Although some students are still convinced that reading is bad, I think that this book will get through to them eventually. The biggest impact that this book has on my students is that it is improving their vocabulary. The expanded vocabulary words in the book have been so good for them. Almost every page contains challenging, especially because COVID has really affected most students' ability to read at grade level. I hope by the end of it all that the kids have so many wonderful new words to help them read and write and think beautiful, impactful things. Again, thank you so much. My students are riveted by the book. I am so grateful that we can have exciting new books to read together to increase my students' love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1734813669840,"projectUrl":"project/class-sets-for-the-joy-of-reading/8691988/","projectTitle":"Class Sets for the Joy of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Woffinden-Neff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9630171_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y402&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722988250968","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9630171"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_109692","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":374,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.8,"schoolId":109692,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about American Academy of Innovation on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"American Academy of Innovation","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/jordan-school-district/american-academy-of-innovation/109692"}
