The walking desk allows me to bring fidgets to students in classrooms and common areas, which has dramatically increased accessibility for students who may not seek out my office on their own. I also use the walking desk to complete classroom observations, which allows me to take notes while remaining mobile and present in the environment without being tethered to a stationary workspace. \r\n\r\nThe organization materials helped create a calm, inviting environment that supports both testing and counseling. Students entering for counseling sessions or assessments encounter a space that feels prepared and intentional rather than chaotic, helping them settle in more quickly. For me, having a well-organized workspace reduces the mental load of managing multiple roles throughout the day, allowing me to be more present and focused on each student. The sense of calm that comes from an organized environment benefits everyone who walks through the door, creating a foundation for the meaningful work that happens in this space.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have been especially valuable for students after testing. Students often leave assessments feeling drained and hungry, and having a small treat waiting for them makes the experience feel less clinical and more supportive. It gives us a natural moment to check in about how they felt the testing went, and many students are appreciative. The fidgets have become essential tools for building rapport and helping students regulate their emotions during difficult conversations. Students who used to sit stiffly in chairs now have something to do with their hands, which makes it easier for them to open up.","fullyFundedDate":1777492831795,"projectUrl":"project/a-flexible-space-for-student-support-re/10200957/","projectTitle":"A Flexible Space for Student Support, Regulation, and Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Friedberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10481026"},{"teacherId":10055393,"projectId":9464531,"letterContent":"We have already put the printer to good use! One of our first projects is to design a bubble wand using CAD, and the students had a blast testing out their designs. Students have then been applying their CAD skills and creating unique parts to put into their other class projects, including creating pieces for a marble run! They really enjoy being able to bring their ideas to life.
