I remember when I got the news it was accepted - it was a late Friday night at home, and I didn't understand why my principal was messaging me so late. Well, turns out he was congratulating me on the project being funded! I was so excited. Over the weeks following the news the supplies I asked for in the project started arriving at the school. It felt like a teacher's Christmas, even if the supplies were simple.\r\n\r\nWhen I put together my list for this project, I sat at my desk in my classroom and looked around wondering what my students would use the most. The first, most obvious, supply was pencils. Many of my students don't have their own pencils or somehow manage to lose their pencils throughout the day. Having a pencil station fully stocked in my classroom allows students to help themselves without disrupting the learning of others. Another supply that felt necessary was Spanish-English dictionaries. I already had a few, but it wasn't enough for each student to access during class. Now that my room has a full shelf of the dictionaries, most of my students can use one at any time during their classwork. \r\n\r\nIn the pictures I shared showing how the supplies are used in class I tried to use one of the most basic teacher strategies - thumbs up and thumbs down. Thumbs down shows the before pictures in which my classroom did not have the supplies, and thumbs up shows the supplies fully stocked in their designated locations. While the pencils, paper, folders, and dictionaries may seem like small items, they've made a big impact on my students. The highest priced item in my project was a Chromebook. I use a computer daily to present materials to students, post grades, and lesson plan. The value of a brand new computer to streamline my work throughout the day has been priceless.\r\n\r\nOverall, the benefits the Donors Choose project has brought to my classroom is immeasurable. Thank you for choosing my classroom to fund.","fullyFundedDate":1768009517331,"projectUrl":"project/organized-equipped-and-ready-to-learn/9988130/","projectTitle":"Organized, Equipped, and Ready to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DeSart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398271"},{"teacherId":9558581,"projectId":10010584,"letterContent":"The students started to make gnomes for ceramics and the clay was really appreciated.\r\nStudents loved the new glazes on the gnomes and the colors are very bright and make the projects turn out amazing.
