Now that I have a working kiln, I have been able to do much more ceramics work with my middle school students. The banding wheels have been especially helpful as students learn to create pottery and practice different hand-building techniques. Having additional wheels has made the process smoother and allows more students to work at the same time. With the new ones and the older wheels I inherited from the previous teacher, I finally have enough for my classes. I even take time to explain to students what the wheels are called and how they help make shaping and decorating ceramic pots easier.
