When I first envisioned what this initiative could become, I hoped it would bring comfort, cleanliness, and care to our students during the moments when they need it most. Your contribution has made that hope a reality. It is more than a donation—it is an investment in the daily well-being of the young people we serve.\r\n\r\nSomething as simple as a box of Kleenexes or a container of Clorox wipes may seem ordinary to the outside world, but within a school setting, these items become tools of support and reassurance. Kleenexes are not just tissues; they are small gestures of compassion. They are the quiet comforts that sit on a desk when a student comes in overwhelmed, anxious, or upset. They help us offer warmth and humanity in moments when a young person feels vulnerable. Whether a student is coping with a difficult conversation, struggling with stress, or simply fighting off a sneeze during allergy season, having Kleenexes readily available helps maintain dignity and comfort.\r\n\r\nLikewise, Clorox wipes are far more than just cleaning supplies. They are a symbol of our commitment to creating a safe, sanitary, and welcoming space. In the counseling center, we strive to offer an environment where students feel they can breathe—emotionally and literally. Being able to quickly clean surfaces, sanitize shared areas, and maintain a fresh space sets the tone for every student who walks through our door. It tells them, \"You matter. Your health matters. Your comfort matters.\" These wipes help us give students a place where they feel secure and cared for—something essential for their mental and emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, we will be taking all of the supplies you helped purchase and filling our baskets in the counseling center. These baskets will stand ready for any student who needs a tissue, a cleaning wipe, or a moment of support. It may sound simple, but these baskets represent so much more—they are baskets of kindness, resources, and readiness. They allow us to meet students' needs quickly, quietly, and compassionately.\r\n\r\nOur students are incredibly appreciative of this project and the difference it makes in their day-to-day lives. Many of them come to school carrying burdens we may not immediately see. Having easy access to basic supplies helps remove one small barrier from their day, allowing them to focus on learning, growing, and feeling supported. Your donation supports not just their physical needs, but also their emotional ones. In moments when they feel overwhelmed, these small items help create a sense of stability.\r\n\r\nYour generosity sends a powerful message: that our students are deserving of care, that their well-being matters, and that our community is here to support them. From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of every student who will benefit from these supplies, thank you. Your kindness continues to ripple through our halls, touching the lives of young people in ways both seen and unseen. We are deeply, sincerely grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1762365969043,"projectUrl":"project/middle-school-survival-cold-season/9748623/","projectTitle":"Middle School Survival: Cold Season!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bowen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6964277"},{"teacherId":6964277,"projectId":9585682,"letterContent":"There are not enough words to express my joy, gratitude, and thanks for your generous donation to my project. The microscope slides showing parasites and worms found in common household pets have been a huge hit. Students love getting a closer look at what veterinarians might see under a real microscope, and it's sparked so many great questions about animal health and safety. The new books about becoming a veterinarian and the skeletal systems of large livestock have also helped them connect what they're learning in class to real-world careers.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been seeing the tiny details up close — it's a whole new world for them! They've enjoyed comparing what they see under the microscope to the diagrams and pictures in the books. For many, it's the first time they've been able to visualize the kind of work that happens in a veterinary clinic.\r\n\r\nA few students have especially taken to the new materials, spending extra time after class looking through the slides and reading about animal anatomy. It's been wonderful to watch their curiosity grow as they imagine future careers in veterinary science. With the addition of nail models with darker skin tones, a hair mannequin with natural curly hair, and \"Colors of the World\" markers and crayons, students of color are finally able to work on models that look like them. It's been amazing to see how this helps them create more realistic and inclusive makeup looks while learning new techniques. The classroom feels even more creative and welcoming now that everyone sees themselves represented in our materials.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, they were so excited! Many said how cool it was to finally have materials that show different skin tones and hair textures. They also realized that this means more students will get a chance to do the cosmetology module — something they've really been looking forward to. The energy and smiles in the room said it all!\r\n\r\nNext up, students will be working on full makeover projects where they'll design hair, makeup, and nail looks for a variety of clients. My 6th-grade students have been absolutely thrilled to take part in this hands-on experience, which has deepened their understanding of genetics, life cycles, and animal development. From the moment we unboxed the incubator and other materials, the excitement was contagious. Many students had never seen the process of hatching chicks before, and their curiosity and engagement have been incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nThroughout the project, students carefully monitored temperature and humidity levels, candled the eggs to observe growth, and made predictions about the traits of the chicks based on genetic principles. When the first tiny cracks appeared in the eggs, the classroom was filled with anticipation. Watching the chicks hatch was a magical moment that sparked so many meaningful discussions—not just about science, but also about responsibility, patience, and care for living things.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, my students are continuing to observe and document the chicks' growth, learning about inherited traits and variations. This experience has left a lasting impact on them, and many have expressed how much they enjoyed applying what they learned in such a real and memorable way. Your support has provided them with an opportunity they will never forget, and I cannot thank you enough for helping bring science to life in our classroom!
