When the students saw the brown cardboard boxes being delivered to our classroom they were so excited, some were smiling, some quietly clapping and some were so anxious in the anticipation of me opening the boxes. I heard trickle of whispers of enthusiasm as I was opening the boxes!\r\nWe are using the equipment during PE and recess. During PE students are more excited to use the equipment for various sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball and football. I was very surprised to notice that the girls are more motivated to use the equipment and they have become more active. A unexpected outcome has been the enthusiasm from my class have been especially eager to use the new equipment. Their confidence and participation during physical activities have noticeably increased, and they seem to be benefiting the most from having access to it. The increased participation in the girls being active have impacted the classroom in a positive way. They now play more with the boys which has created a deeper sense of community in the classroom. It was amazing to see them working together, carefully placing candy and frosting to bring their gingerbread houses to life. The magic of the holiday season was definitely in full effect despite the minor setback. The materials that arrived in January will be used to create Valentine's Day baggies for our students. \r\nThe stockings and ornaments will be saved for our future cohort of students. Our monthly art project for January was completed thanks to this restock. Students were able to use a white cardstock to draw a heart and decorate with a vivid pattern around it. \r\nOn the 100th day of school, I was able to print a crown to commemorate the day on the sturdy cardstock. Students truly enjoyed this coloring activity and even wore their crowns throughout the day. Since we had 15 school days before break, I was able to read all of the new additions to our collection just in time. After listening to the story, students were asked to take an Accelerated Reader quiz on the story. It is safe to say that the majority of the students passed the quizzes with flying colors.
