It is true with reading as well. You want students read because they want to, not because they have to. This is where discovering the love and pleasure of reading comes in. This is harder to teach than just learning to read. \r\n\r\nTeaching the love of reading can be difficult especially when the text needs to be lengthier and more complex in structure. This particular book that you purchased for my class hits all the notes for second grade kids. It still has some pictures, uses animal characters, superheroes vs. villains and their favorite, potty humor. I have found that once you show them how fun longer books can be; they are hooked. I then like to do a bait and switch strategy with more books in the series. I ask, \"I know how much you enjoyed listening and reading along with this first book; now don't you want to read this one or this one. It works wonderfully. It just takes the right book.\r\n\r\nThank you for purchasing these books for my students. We have not completed the book yet but the students are enjoying them. They laugh out loud as we read and I already have a waiting list of students that want to independently read the next two books in the series. Mission accomplished. I will continue to use these books year after year. Therefore, your generous gift will impact many students in the years to come as well. They have loved these stories. They get excited each week to participate in language therapy and see the familiar characters of Matt and Molly each week. I think by far their favorite part has been getting to act out the stories week tackle each week. Their reactions, expressions of emotions, and understanding on language concepts through these hands on stories have been priceless! I also use these stories with my general education students as well, some of my friends who have a harder time with comprehension have also been so successful with these materials! \r\n\r\nMy favorite part is that it saves so much time which can be invaluable as an educator. The lessons and visuals are done for you in such a clear and concise manner.
