Students were so excited when the boxes came. They rely on snacks to help them stay focused in math because many of them live in households with food insecurity so the food is important to keep them thinking through the 82 minute classes and it helps them to make it between meals. \r\n\r\nThe Biscoff cookies were something most students had never tried and the granola bars are filling and help with hunger. The popcorn is always one of the students favorite snacks. Each week they look forward to the drawing when they can get a fidget. More students use scratch paper during math so that they get drawing tickets. By using scratch paper they are engaging more with their math. Then students have fidgets from the prize drawing to help keep them focused. I can provide them with low floor, high ceiling tasks that are broken down into small chunks that get harder as you continue on with the activity. Some of the students that come to my class for fourth period had the first lunch so the snack helps them make it until the end of the day. Once these sticker sheets are full, they turn them into the office for a drawing. They can fill as many sheets as possible! And they can choose which drawing to enter!\r\n\r\nBecause of your donations and the awesome prizes we were able to get, we had more participation with our stick sheet system than we have ever had! More participation in this system translates to a lot more positive behavior.
