We were in the gym before with a mobile board and a keyboard, but we have a dedicated music classroom now. The project funded different materials we use all the time (rhythm sticks, scarves, etc.) as well as physical room features that get used daily (new rug, boomwhacker holders, stools, and posters). \r\n\r\nHaving a real space allows the students to think about music class differently than they did before. They arrive and know their expectation is to come and sit on the comfortable, clean carpet or a stool, then they see only music items around the room. There are no distracting gym materials or dusty wooden floors. I'm excited to teach every day. They are excited to have music! The amount it has changed the mindset of the entire music program cannot be understated.
